CFMoto Reveals the Innovative 450MT Adventure Bike at EICMA

CFMoto has finally unveiled the highly anticipated 450MT Adventure motorcycle! Get ready to embark on thrilling journeys with this game-changing addition to the CFMoto family. Packed with a plethora of innovative features, the 450MT is set to revolutionize the middleweight adventure bike category. With its sleek design, powerful twin-cylinder engine, compact frame, and purpose-built off-road capabilities, this bad boy is ready to take you off the beaten path like never before. Get ready to unleash your adventurous spirit and conquer new frontiers with the all-new 450MT!

The CFMoto 450MT is powered by a remarkable 449cc water-cooled DOHC parallel-twin engine. With an impressive output of 43.6 horsepower (32.5 kW) and 32.5 ft-lbs (44 Nm) of torque, this engine stands out from the rest. What truly makes it special is its unique 270-degree crankshaft, guaranteeing an unmistakable and gratifying throaty roar reminiscent of a V-twin.

The motorcycle’s chassis is a solid foundation for off-road adventures, boasting a steel tube main frame with a trellis-style subframe. The suspension setup includes an upside-down KYB front fork, while the rear is supported by a multi-link KYB monoshock — both ends offering 7.9 inches (200 mm) of travel and damping adjustability. The MT450 also rides on standard cross-spoke tubeless wheels, featuring a dirt-friendly 21-inch front and 18-inch rear setup, ideal for tackling a variety of terrain.

One notable aspect of the 450MT is that CFMoto is employing their 450cc platform for the first time in an off-road adventure chassis. This platform has previously seen action in their sport, classic, and naked models, adding some assurance that any new-model gremlins have already been identified.

With rider comfort and control in mind, CFMoto gave the motorcycle an approachable seat height of 31.5 inches (800 mm) in the low setting and 32.3 inches (820 mm) in the high setting. Even so, the new bike maintains a reasonable ground clearance of 8.7 inches (220 mm).

Equipped with a 4.6-gallon (17.5 liters) fuel tank, the 450MT should have decent range for its small-displacement engine. Braking duties are carried out by a single 320 mm front disc with a 4-piston caliper, while the rear wheel features a 240 mm disc with a single-piston caliper, both made by J.Juan.

The MT450 tips the scales with a dry weight of 385.8 pounds (175 kg), making it a relatively nimble and manageable option for riders. And with a wheelbase of 59.3 inches, it maintains a compact footprint to further enhance agility.

Among the standard features provided are an adjustable windscreen, full wrap-around handguards, aluminum skid plate, rear rack, and a slipper clutch. However, it’s worth noting that the throttle is mechanical, meaning the MT lacks electronic rider aids, aside from ABS and traction control.

One of the standout features of the new model is its 5″ curved TFT screen with Over-The-Air (OTA) functionality. This means the motorcycle’s electronics can receive updates wirelessly. The TFT screen also supports MotoPlay, enabling full map on the bike’s dashboard, for an enhanced navigation experience.

For riders who want to tailor the bike further to their preferences, the 450MT appears to offer high fender options and a range of accessories, including upper and lower crash bars, rear pannier racks, hard cases, and more.

CFMoto plans to release the 450MT overseas in the first quarter of 2024 with two different color options, Zephyr Blue and Tundra Grey. We’ve received no indication yet from CFMoto about its availability for the U.S. market. Pricing details have not yet been announced, but we do expect it to target the entry-level market like the other models sharing the same 450 platform in CFMoto’s lineup. We’ll be sure to share any new details as they are released. Stay tuned!
